Principal's Message

Hello West Middle School!

My name is Aspen Burkett, and I am honored to serve as the new principal of this incredible learning community. As a Colorado native with 23 years of experience in education, I’ve had the privilege of supporting both middle and high school students across Denver Public Schools, including at East High School and Denver School of the Arts. I began my career as a special education teacher and have remained committed to creating inclusive, student-centered environments where every learner can thrive.

West Middle School has a rich tradition of academic excellence, vibrant community engagement, and a deep commitment to the whole child. I’m excited to build on that foundation and work alongside our talented staff, dedicated families, and exceptional students. Together, we will continue to foster a school culture where belonging, curiosity, and achievement are at the heart of everything we do. I look forward to getting to know each of you throughout the 2025-2026 school year.
