GT Programming at West

At West Middle School, we offer an inclusive experience where students experience interaction with a wide range of peers.  To accommodate the needs of our gifted and advanced learners, we offer accelerated mathematics, advanced, language arts, and a variety of electives and extracurricular activities in all grades. Students are placed by ability and performance. Students with needs beyond that of the regular classroom are placed in Honors level language arts courses in 7th and 8th grade.  Throughout middle school, gifted students at West have access to academic support and affective programming through after-school sessions and the Advanced Learning Plan. If your child was not identified as gifted in elementary school, he/she may still be referred through our GT Identification Committee.
