Principal's Message
Greetings, West Middle School Families:

Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year!  I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of our middle school.  Thank you to everyone who has already welcomed me to this new position!  I look forward to meeting the parents and students of our incoming 6th grade class, as well as our returning students.  How exciting to serve as principal in a community that values citizenship, academic achievement, respect for others, and inclusive excellence.  I am proud to lead our school as our students grow, learn, and perpare for their high school years, college, and beyond.

My career in education began as a German language teacher at Colorado State University.  I taught for six years and have been an administrator for seventeen years, the last six as Assistant Principal at West Middle School.  I hold a Master's degree from Colorado State University in German Lanugage and Literature, as well as a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, and will complete certification as Director of Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado by the end of this school year.

I am humbled to serve as the principal of West Middle School.  Our staff is second to none.  We believe in rigorous learning and caring relationships with our students, as well as the fun that comes with working with this unique age group.  I look forward to continuing the reationships I have formed with the staff, families, and community of West over the past six years.  I am elated at the prospect of forming new bonds with students and parents who are new to our school this year.  Please know that my office door will always be open. Come in, sit down, and let me know how your student is doing!

With warm regards,

Kate Bergles
Principal
